Our Mission
Why specialized care for relationships matters
I started Couple Therapy Toronto 13 years ago because I realized that clients were finding it extremely difficult to find good relationship therapists in Toronto. There just weren’t that many of us working in the area, and there were few (if any) practices offering a team of specialized couple and family therapists.
Over the years, this need has only grown. While there are some great therapists in the field meeting this need, there are also a lot of therapists without appropriate training who have begun offering couples and family therapy, seeing the demand as an opportunity. As a client it is tough to know the difference.
While trained relationship therapists are required to also be skilled at working with individual clients (relationships are made up of individuals, after all), therapists trained to support individual clients often do not have the expertise required to work within the complex dynamics of relationships. Without that training, well-intentioned therapy can sometimes do more harm than good.
Working with relationships requires specific education, supervision, and experience. This is why designations such as Registered Marriage and Family Therapist (RMFT) are restricted to those with years of specialized training and supervision in couple and family therapy, and why graduate programs in Couple and Family Therapy were developed specifically to train professionals in this complex field.
While not all of our therapists have the same training and credentials, Couple Therapy Toronto is unique in that our team is made entirely of therapists who are passionate about working with couples and families as a specialization. Every one of our clinicians has extensive training, clinical supervision, and years of experience working with couples and families, along with individual therapy clients.
Couple Therapy Toronto began with a small handpicked group of relationship therapists committed to providing the best care we can for our clients. Many of these wonderful therapists are still part of our team, more than a decade later. You might say that we value relationships! If you are in need of support - we hope you will get in touch.

“Humility and self-compassion are at the heart of my work. I want people to cultivate kindness toward themselves, to build an honest and caring relationship with who they are. We don’t need to pretend we have it all together. Being real about where we need help is something universal.”
